Yaquina Bay Bridge
1936 steel through-arch bridge with Art Deco and Gothic details
The Yaquina Bay Bridge carries U.S. Route 101 over the mouth of Yaquina Bay at Newport. Designed by Conde B. McCullough and completed in 1936, it combines a steel through-arch main span with concrete approach arches, with Art Deco and Gothic details on its piers and portals.
At more than 3,000 feet long, it is one of Oregon's most recognizable coastal bridges and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It was part of a group of coastal bridges built in the 1930s as part of the Oregon Coast Highway project.
The bridge is for vehicles, but good views are available from Yaquina Bay State Recreation Site, the Newport Bayfront and the Yaquina Bay shoreline. It is especially photogenic when the fog rolls in.
