Mount Bachelor
Volcanic peak with 4,300 acres of lift-served terrain and long ski season
Mount Bachelor is a volcanic peak in the Deschutes National Forest, about 22 miles southwest of Bend on the Cascade Lakes Scenic Byway. Its summit reaches 9,065 feet, and the resort's lift-served terrain covers roughly 4,300 acres, with runs for every ability level. The ski season is one of the longest in North America, typically running from late November into May.
The summit chairlift offers broad views of the Cascade Range, including the Three Sisters, Mount Jefferson and Broken Top, when conditions allow. The mountain also has Nordic skiing and snowshoeing trails around its base.
In summer, the area around the base is a trailhead for hiking, and the scenic byway passes many lakes. Dress in layers and bring sun protection at any time of year, as the weather at this elevation changes quickly.
