Mount Scott
Highest point in Crater Lake National Park with historic fire lookout
Located on the eastern side of the Crater Lake caldera, Mount Scott is the highest point in Crater Lake National Park at 8,929 feet. The trail to the summit is a 4.4-mile round trip with about 1,250 feet of elevation gain, a moderate climb that begins directly from a trailhead on Rim Drive.
As hikers ascend, they are treated to views of the deep blue waters of Crater Lake and the surrounding Cascade Range. A historic fire lookout stands on the summit, and on clear days the views extend as far as Mount Shasta in California and Mount Thielsen to the north.
Visitors should note that the weather at the summit can change rapidly and be windy and cold. Bring layers, and expect snow on the trail well into early summer.
